The story
Wandan grows much of Taiwan's red beans and calls itself their hometown. The old street wraps around Wanhui Temple, a Mazu temple from the Qianlong era whose worship organisation helped bind the Hokkien community. The Fangmei store, the Li family's old mansion with fine koji pottery and woodcarving, was nearly demolished in an ownership dispute before being declared a provisional monument.
