The story
Zhiben's springs lie in the traditional territory of the Puyuma Katratripulr community and were developed as a spa under Japanese rule, growing into Taitung's best-known hot-spring resort after the war. Longquan Road is lined with spa hotels, snack shops and souvenir stores, and stalls gather after dark like a small night market. The 'old street' is a resort strip rather than a historic district, with almost no old buildings.
