The story
Near the old railway workshops, Chifeng Street filled with blacksmiths, hardware and auto-parts shops and was nicknamed 'Blacksmith Street'. Over the past decade its old houses have been converted into cafés, select shops and bars, side by side with grease-stained workshops. The buildings are mostly post-war; the charm is the mix rather than heritage.
