The story

Jingliao grew as a rice-trading hamlet on the Chianan Plain, keeping wooden shophouses, an old herbal pharmacy and smithy. The 2005 documentary "Let It Be" about its rice farmers made it famous, and the nearby Holy Cross Church by German architect Gottfried Böhm draws architecture fans.
