The story
Lushan was once central Taiwan's most popular hot-spring resort, its riverside street crowded with spa hotels and stalls selling millet wine and mountain produce. Because the mountain behind it is sliding and the river bed silting up, the county revoked the hot-spring zone in 2012 and businesses were told to relocate to a new site near Puli, though demolition and compensation disputes drag on. Most of the street is now deserted and visits are not recommended for safety reasons.
