The story
The northern stretch of Xinmei Street was "Rice Street" in the Qing era, already marked on an 1807 county map, with paper shops and folk-print workshops nearby. It was home to Shi Qiongfang and Shi Shijie, Qing Taiwan's only father-and-son pair of imperial jinshi scholars. Today it mixes old snack shops with renovated houses.
