The story
Nanzi, formerly Nanzaikeng, lay where the Qing highway from the county seat to Tainan passed between Fengshan, Qishan and Gangshan. The Nanzi Mazu Temple, a municipal monument over 200 years old, still has old shophouses behind it showing how lanes grew around the temple. Today it is an ordinary residential and market area.
