The story
Yujing, formerly Tapani, saw the 1915 Tapani Incident, the largest armed uprising against Japanese rule. Today it is Taiwan's mango capital: in season nearly every shop on Zhongzheng Road—pharmacies included—sells mangoes, and a row of late Japanese-era shophouses faces the Beiji Temple.
