The story
Baishatun Old Street, locally called Dianzai Street, is the narrow lane in front of Gongtian Temple. The temple's Mazu makes an annual walking pilgrimage to Beigang whose route is decided by the palanquin itself, a tradition of nearly 200 years that now draws hundreds of thousands of followers. Quiet most of the year, the street overflows during the pilgrimage's departure and return.
