The story
Tongluo's Qing-era name was Fuxing, and the old street, still in Fuxing village, is where the town began. The 1935 earthquake badly damaged it and it slowly declined into an ordinary residential area. Come for Hakka rice cakes nearby and, in late autumn, the chrysanthemum fields and the Taiwan Hakka Museum.
