The story
Xihu was originally Sihu ('fourth lake'), named for its place in a chain of valley basins numbered first to ninth, and later renamed to avoid confusion with Sihu in Yunlin. Its tiny old street, locally called Dianzai Street, is near the Wu Zhuoliu literary museum, a military-scholar's residence and the Liu family's Yunti Academy. There are few shops; it suits literature and Hakka-history fans.
