Gangshan, once called A-kong-tiam, has been a market town on the north-south route since the Qing, and its traditional basket fair has run for over a century. The old streets around Weiren Road and Kaiyuan Street sell daily goods and host a morning market, with famous mutton restaurants nearby. Gangshan is known for its 'three treasures': mutton, bean paste and honey.
