The story
Formerly called Shuangxikou, Xikou's Zhongzheng Road became a market street around the 1830s and peaked in the 1960s with pharmacies, goldsmiths, tailors, photo studios, inns and a cinema. Depopulation left it quiet but largely unaltered, and a 2012 art-trail project added playful installations to its lanes.
