The story
Xinnan Old Street is Daxi's Zhongshan Road, only about 230 m long, which in the Japanese era was an upscale residential street for mining magnates, gentry and doctors. Its ornate facades were completed around 1918–1919 and are as well preserved as those on busy Heping Road. With few shops and few tourists, it is the place to study Daxi's facades in peace; a handful of old houses now host small creative shops.
