The story

Zhushan was called Linqipu after Lin Qi, an officer of Koxinga's Ming-loyalist regime sent to open up the area; the Japanese renamed it 'Bamboo Mountain' around 1920 for the surrounding groves. The Xiahengjie and Hengjie lanes were the original market, centred on Lianxing Temple, where meatball and sticky-rice stalls still gather. The street is modest with few standout shops, best as a stroll combined with Zinan Temple or the Zhushan culture park.
