The story
Bali faces Tamsui across the river, and its ferry pier has carried people between the banks for centuries. Today's 'old street' is really a snack strip by the pier, famous for twin fried doughnuts, green mussels and squid cakes, with little historic architecture. Many visitors combine it with a cycle along the Left Bank to the Shihsanhang Museum.
