The story

At about 1,400 m, Fenqihu's name ("dustpan hollow") describes its bowl-shaped valley—there is no lake. As the midway stop of the Alishan Forest Railway, it fed passengers boxed lunches on the platform, making the Fenqihu bento famous. The narrow stepped lanes beside the station, crammed with snack and souvenir stalls, have earned it the nickname "Jiufen of central Taiwan".
