The story
Jingmei was once 'Jianwei', the 'end of the flume', named after the Qing-era Liugong Canal's wooden aqueduct across the Jingmei River. Jingmei Street was the area's first market street; the old houses are gone and it now hosts Jingmei Night Market around Jiying Temple.
