The story
'Kanziding' means 'atop the stone embankment': boats once sailed up the Xuchuan River to unload here, and a fish trade grew on the banks. It remains a major wholesale fish market for northern Taiwan, with auctions under the arcades roughly from 2 a.m. to dawn. By day it looks like any ordinary street.
