The story

Shifen grew on coal mining and the Pingxi Line; shops sit right beside the tracks and trains pass a few metres from their doors. Writing wishes on lanterns and releasing them from the rails is the signature experience, making it the busiest stop on the line. Nearby Shifen Waterfall is nicknamed Taiwan's Niagara.
