The story

Xihu's 'middle street' centres on Yuanlu Road section 3, where the Japanese-era Xihu village office survives as a heritage building. Scattered shophouses remain along Taiping and Zhangshui roads, though landmarks such as the Dongfang restaurant have been demolished. The town is better known for mutton hot pot and the sugar-cane train at the nearby Xihu sugar factory.
