The story
The 'Shinmachi' lane follows the Xinding ditch, believed to be part of the moat of Changhua's Qing-dynasty city wall. A few Japanese-era houses and old trees survive beside it, and the city has turned the bank into a short promenade with newly added torii, stone lanterns and a pavilion. It is small, an easy add-on while exploring Changhua city.
