The story
Xinshe is known for its flower fields, mushrooms and orchards; its small town-centre street is little documented and mostly rebuilt. The most distinctive local tradition is the 'Nine-Village Mazu', a goddess with no fixed temple who rotates between villages and is paraded in early January of the lunar year, said to be the first Mazu procession of the year in Taiwan.
