The story
Xitun Old Street was the Qing-era market of Xidadun, and a stone marker on Guangming Road still bears the old name. Its earth-god shrine dates to 1775 and, with two neighbouring temples, has served the area since the Qianlong era. The buildings have mostly been replaced, leaving a low-key neighbourhood street in the middle of booming western Taichung.
